Positioning Your DJ Equipment

To be a good DJ you must first be a well-organized DJ, who knows how to set up his gear in a way that’s best adapted to his style. If you’re a beginner DJ and you don’t have any idea how to place your gear , this tutorial should help you.

Before using your turntables and mixers, make sure that they are on a desk or surface that’s as stable and horizontal as possible, like in this picture.
You should try to avoid exposing your gear to direct sunlight, or to humidity and it should be kept in a ventilated room ( it’s your gear, you should take care of it).
Try keeping your gear out of the reach of children (for obvious reasons).
If you’re a Hip Hop DJ, you can put your gear in "Hip Hop position"(H), as shown in this picture.
This position is ideal for scratching but it’s not the best for mixing because it’s easy to accidentally touch the needle and damage the record. But it’s all a question of habit.
This position is perfect for mixing and scratching.
This position lets you to do Beat Juggling very quickly.
